Job Description:
As the Experimental Equipment Development Scientist, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and testing experimental equipment for atomic-scale manufacturing. You will be responsible for creating innovative solutions for equipment prototypes and ensuring their effective implementation and optimization, ensuring that our technology development efforts remain at the cutting edge.
In this role, you will work closely with the R&D team, mechanical and electrical engineers, and material scientists to ensure the development of advanced equipment that meets the high standards of ATLANT 3D’s nanoscale manufacturing goals. This is a cross-functional role where you will collaborate with relevant departments, such as engineering and product development, to drive innovation, efficiency, and performance enhancement. Your goal will be to ensure alignment, efficiency, and engagement at all levels, helping us build innovative, scalable experimental systems while empowering teams across the company.
You will report directly to New Technology Group Lead and collaborate closely with Head of Technology and R&D Team members.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design, development, and optimization of experimental equipment for atomic-scale manufacturing.
- Oversee the implementation of prototypes, testing protocols, and process optimizations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective development of experimental setups that meet high-performance standards.
- Develop and implement new methodologies for equipment testing and analysis to support continuous improvement.
- Analyze data from experimental runs and equipment performance to provide actionable insights.
- Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards during equipment development and testing.
- Research emerging technologies and apply them to the improvement of ATLANT 3D’s manufacturing processes.
Must-Have:
- Academic background in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in experimental equipment development, preferably in semiconductors, nanotechnology, or precision manufacturing.
- Proven ability to manage multiple experimental projects, ensuring alignment across teams and successful delivery.
- Experience with prototype development, advanced instrumentation, and equipment testing.
- Comfortable with digital tools and engineering design software.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire multidisciplinary teams.
Good-to-Have:
- Experience in Thin film deposition and Prototyping.
- Familiarity with Vacuum systems.
- Ability to analyze complex data from experiments and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Familiarity with process improvement tools such as lean methodologies.
- Adaptable, proactive mindset with experience in dynamic R&D environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across various functions within the organization.
Key Expected Results:
- Successful development of new experimental equipment within the first 6-12 months, contributing to advancements in ATLANT 3D’s technology.
- Optimization of equipment performance and processes, leading to improved experimental output and precision.
- Produce Intellectual Properties translated into patents, ensuring innovation and new technologies IP are secured.
- Propose and Develop new technology solutions with validated business cases and bring them to execution
- Achieve customer validation and product transfer by transitioning 2 new technology designs from R&D to manufacturing, with successful performance validation from customers within the first 12 months.
