Job Description:
As the Senior Application Engineer / Scientist - Catalysis, Electrocatalysis, Fuel Cells & Batteries, you will play a crucial role in leading the development of innovative applications in catalysis and energy storage technologies. You will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and validating systems that enhance the performance and efficiency of fuel cells and batteries, ensuring groundbreaking advancements in sustainable energy solutions.
In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, engaging with industry partners to contribute to projects that advance clean energy solutions. This is a cross-functional role where you will collaborate with R&D, engineering, and business development teams to drive the adoption and scalability of sustainable technologies. Your goal will be to ensure alignment, efficiency, and innovation at all levels, helping us build next-generation energy solutions while empowering teams across the company.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the development of cutting-edge applications in catalysis, electrocatalysis, fuel cells, and battery systems.
- Oversee the design and optimization of catalytic processes for chemical synthesis, environmental remediation, and energy conversion.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate catalytic and electrocatalytic processes into larger systems.
- Conduct performance testing and system design for fuel cells and battery technologies, focusing on efficiency, longevity, and scalability.
- Engage in R&D leadership to discover new catalytic materials and improve existing technologies.
- Contribute to scientific publications and patent filings for novel discoveries.
- Forge and manage partnerships with research organizations, universities, and industry collaborators.
- Participate in industry groups and represent the company at conferences and seminars.
- Analyze market segments and provide insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Oversee multiple projects ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
Must-Have:
- Academic background: Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in developing catalytic and electrocatalytic applications, with expertise in fuel cells and/or battery system design.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring alignment across departments and successful delivery.
- Technical proficiency in catalysis, fuel cell technologies (e.g., PEM, SOFC), battery technologies (e.g., Li-ion, solid-state), and materials science.
- Experience with laboratory skills, experimental research, testing, and market research.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire teams across various levels of the company.
Good-to-Have:
- Experience in process improvement tools, lean methodologies, or market analysis in related industries.
- Ability to analyze complex data and provide insights to support decision-making.
- Proactive, adaptable mindset with experience navigating dynamic and evolving environments.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across various functions within the organization.
Key Expected Results:
- Achieve significant advancements in fuel cell and battery systems performance within the first 6 months.
- File patents for at least two new catalytic processes within the first year.
- Establish partnerships with at least three key research or industry collaborators in the first year.
